I really enjoyed this fast paced and intense romantic suspense story. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that there is a delicious ex-Marine Firefighter in it…or maybe 2. I was easily engrossed in the story and read it in just a few hours.
Lisbeth (a.k.a. Gloria) and Ethan have an instant connection the first time the see each other but shy away from it to a certain extent for different reasons. Ethan could have any woman he wants (and he usually does) but with Lisbeth it’s different. He wants to protect her but also is extremely attracted to her and her personality. Lisbeth is strong and a fighter. She’s had to endure a lot just growing up and then to top it off, she’s the only witness to a crime. She is leery of most men, except for Ethan. I really admired her and her strength. Despite her few panic attack (and really you can’t blame her for those) she’s tough and put together. Both of the are extremely stubborn and I found them very enjoyable to read about.
The story line was very interesting. It was suspenseful but also had that romance that blossoms over time. I could really feel Lisbeth’s emotions pouring out of the pages as she talked about not only the incident that she witnessed but also her rough upbringing in the foster system and on the streets. It was also easy to see the love and loyalty Ethan has for his friends. I loved the characters and I can’t wait to read more about the McCoy gang. 4 out of 5 palm trees!
