Another great book from Teresa Mummert! From the very beginning I was drawn into the story. It was a serious page turner and had me reading for all I was worth to get to the next scene and in the back of my mind I was trying to figure everything out. The dynamic between the characters is really unique in this story. There is Delilah who is emotionally damaged and is struggling to make a new life for herself. She has memories of Brock, the first boy she loved. And then there is Abel who comes into her new life and the interactions between them is passionate and volatile. They are full of witty sarcasm and banter one minute and yelling at each other the next. It kept me on the edge of my seat and easily held my attention until the very end. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. The characters were well thought out and had dimension. The story was engaging and flowed well. It actually had some suspense in it as well which made for some intense moments. Despite what happened to them in high school, it doesn’t take long to see that Lucas and Melinda (Lindy) are meant for each other. They “click” as a couple but not just in the passion or romance sense but also as 2 people that have a long lasting friendship and understand each other. Alex, Isabel, and Jesse are all intertwined yet again and each have their own lessons to learn and decisions to make. They tugged at my heart and after reading this book, I understand their relationships a lot more. They all grow and learn a lot in the course of this story and I liked the direction the author took the book even if it was at the expense of the characters at times. The story flowed nicely and it held my interest. The characters were well developed and it was nice to see how they have grown since the beginning. Very well written with excellent characters. This is a great story not just about romance but also growing as a person and being happy with who you are. Tristan and Mia were fantastic characters and made a great couple. They both have some serious baggage from their childhoods but they actually complement each other very well. When they first meet Tristan is a player and Mia is struggling to get through each day and is very shy, especially around guys. I loved the characters and the story was a great extension of Gabriel and Julia’s story. I really enjoyed getting to read more about them and their next steps in their lives together.
