I got to all kinds of  stuff continuing Kadence and Nix’s story while still getting a full novel for the new couple. It was intense…in more ways than one! Sy and Holly have this connection that both kind of blow off in the beginning but it soon shifts and changes. They both go through so much, Sy’s is more in the past but they still have a lot to learn from each other. When the story starts Sy is dark and brooding, not talking unless he has to and never smiling. At the same time, Holly is care free and wild. However, when the scary events that happen towards the end of Incandescent take place, it sort of flips their rolls. He hides his past which are the cause of his insecurities and less then stellar self-worth. However, Jenny’s sweet disposition, conviction, and loyalty help Mike to come out of that darkness he’s been living in. They have a lot of passion and there were definitely some times where things seemed a little too intense. Colt came across as very controlling but it was in a desperate, needy way and not like he was doing it just because he could. Overall, I loved both of them and their hang-ups just made them feel more real. Their group of close friends are awesome as well. I really liked Dingo, Johnny, Sia, and Anna. Blue Dahlia is the first book in the second trilogy of Vivian Winslow’s Gilded Flower series, featuring Lily Baron’s free-spirited twin sister, Dahlia.       I got to review Lily’s books (the first 3 in the series) so of course I jumped at the opportunity to read the first of Dahlia’s books. I really like Dahlia. She’s torn between lives and is still trying to figure herself out and heal from the past. She has a great personality and I loved her attitude about her uppity mother. I don’t want to give too much away but I will say that she has some difficult choices to make but can’t fault her for the one that she does. The story kept me on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next. There are some great characters as well. I am eager to see where things go in the next installment of the story. 4 out of 5 palm trees! I devoured it in just a few hours. Tyler and Danielle have a shared past of a abusive foster father. He got out the day he turned 18 but she was still 3 years behind him. They lost touch for a while but meet again 4 years later. The circumstances surrounding their reconnecting and what Danielle has been through the past three years continue to unravel throughout the book but ultimately, their dealing with that horrid foster father.
